For my third year as a member of Alpha Omega, I am excited to have the privilege of heading Chapter Lambda. As one of the largest international dental organizations, AO offers great benefits to its members. Through conventions and webcasts we have the opportunity to broaden our horizons beyond the basics taught in dental school. By participating in the Externship Program, students get an amazing exposure to general and specialty practices all across North America and even Europe. Upon graduation, the Associateship Program helps to connect students with practices seeking to hire new dentists. In addition, AO offers post-graduate and residency assistance for those wishing to go beyond the scope of general practice. And most importantly, through AO we have the opportunity to build lasting professional friendships all around the world!
Here, at the University of Saskatchewan, I hope to see our young Chapter Lambda grow and prosper to become an important part of the College of Dentistry. Though it is only our fourth year in existence, we have already proved our value by winning the Chapter Efficiency Award. This means that we were recognized as the most active small-size student chapter in the world! And I hope to continue this tradition of excellence by offering many social events and educational opportunities. In addition, I am working with Daniel Nowak, our sponsor from Nobel Biocare Inc. to bring additional exposure to the world of dental implants for our members. Moreover, as a new initiative this year I plan to establish a Mentorship Program, which will connect young members with their senior colleagues, thus providing them with a great resource of knowledge, support and friendship.
I am truly excited to be a part of Chapter Lambda and I look forward to an awesome year!
